Dr. Forrest Shull is Assistant Director for Empirical Research at the Carnegie Mellon Software Engineering Institute. His leads work with the U.S. Department of Defense, national labs, industry, and academic institutions to advance the use of empirically grounded information in software engineering, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies. He has led research at NASA’s Office of Safety and Mission Assurance, DARPA, the National Science Foundation, and commercial companies. From 2011 to 2014, Shull served as Editor in Chief of IEEE Software, where he launched a digital multimedia edition of the magazine, created the annual Software Experts Summit, and incorporated the free Software Engineering Radio podcast. He is the author of over 80 peer-reviewed publications and co-editor of the Guide to Advanced Empirical Software Engineering.
